Project Homeless Connect

Project Homeless Connect

We invite you to join us in the first Annual Project Homeless Connect, a one-day event that will provide education and resources in reference to homeless individuals in our community.

Created in San Francisco in 2004, Project Homeless Connect (PHC) has spread over 130 cities coast to coast, with several similar events right here in Michigan. the Gogebic County Continuum of Care is organizing an event for November 10th, 2017 from 11 am - 1 pm, at Mill Street Garden Café, 100 S. Mill St., Bessemer, MI 49911. The "Continuum" is a volunteer group of homeless service providers that provides information, advocacy, and coordination for and about programs and policies regarding homelessness.

The mission of PHC is to provide the hospitality and support to create a trajectory out of homelessness. To that end, we are asking representatives from agencies, organizations, and service providers from across the county to be on hand that day with information about and applications for housing, legal services, healthcare, employment services, and other basic needs for individuals, families, and youth. Lunch will be served. We are exploring having transportation available through Gogebic County Transit if needed. Our hope is to spread awareness of the homelessness in our area and provide education on services that are available.

We need your help to make this event a success. Our operating budget includes food, printing costs, and Gogebic County Transit bus tokens, with estimated costs of $2,626.00 Your sponsorship will insure that Project Homeless Connect is a great success for all who participate. For questions about how you can help, please contact Pat Niksich at Gogebic-Ontonagon Community Action Agency, 906-667-0283 ex. 18.

We also welcome your participation in Project Homeless Connect. If you or your co-workers, family, or friends would like to volunteer, please contact Pat Niksich at Gogebic-Ontonagon Community Action Agency, 906-667-0283 ex. 18.

Thank you for being a part of our efforts to end homelessness.
